Congrats to Award Winners!

Silver Lake College awarded scholarships to incoming students and honored current students, faculty, alumni and parents during its Awards Ceremony on April 26.

 

Athletic awards recognized the accomplishments of student-athletes on and off the field. Danelle Buck was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American First Team and Amanda Kudick was named to the USCAA All-American Second Team.

 

Named to the USCAA Academic All-American team were: Jordan Barbeau, Abby Gerhard, Amanda Kudick, Danielle Byrum, Luka Jovicic, Mateja Masic, Courtney Clavers, Hailee Kotche, Ashley Rumlow and Michelle Engelbrecht.

 

Named Most Improved Player were: Wisner Fleurjean, Corey Lloyd, Tasha Rabe, Abby Gerhard, Carla Martinez and Wadeline SaintJuste.

 

Students named Most Valuable Player included: Danelle Buck, Freddy Cook, Jeremy Landers, Courtney Clavers, Matalie Koss and Cesar Pineda.

 

The following student-athletes received a Coaches Award: Tommy Bentley, Abby Gerhard, Hailee Kotche, Michelle Engelbrecht and Luka Jovicic.

 

Academic honors scholarships were awarded to some of the top students of the incoming class. Meg Lehman of Kaukauna was awarded the Mother Generose Cahill Honors Scholarship. Kylie Robley of Manitowoc was awarded the Sister Orestes Kohlbeck Honors Scholarship. Angela Luevano of Milwaukee and Rebecca Curtis of Endicott, New York, were awarded the Founder’s Honors Scholarship. Mitchel Larsen of Sheboygan, Beatriz Reyes of Milwaukee and Elyse Schimelpfenig of Waterloo were awarded the Trustee Honors Scholarship.

 

Current students received graduation honors. Alumni and parents also were recognized. The Distinguished Alumni Award was given to Jilleen J. Bodwin ’02, Master of Arts ’04. The Alumni Award for Excellence in Servant Leadership was given to Joseph V. Collins, Master of Science ’16. The Distinguished Parents Award was given to Randall M. ’75 and Cynthia M. Sohn ’81.

 

Three individuals were honored with the Freddy Award, which recognizes junior or senior students, and faculty, staff or administrators for fostering the Franciscan spirit of community within and beyond the college campus. Recipients of the Freddy Award were Dr. Chris E. Domes, president of Silver Lake College; Steve Kuehl, chair of the mathematics department; and student Anna Hall.

Star of Excellence Award Winner for December

janFelician Village announces Mary Burkart, RN, was chosen for the Service Excellence Star Award for the month of December.
Mary’s nomination: “I would like to thank Mary for her outstanding work to ensure that Felician Village was well represented in the Manitowoc and Two Rivers holiday parades. Mary did lots of behind the scenes work filling out the parade entry forms, attending parade meetings, coming up with a design – in addition to finding employees to walk in the parade, help decorate the float and/or vehicle used in the parade and shopping for decorations to use on the float/vehicle. Thanks for the many hours you devoted to this yearly project. You helped employees feel part of the team while showing the community all the good Felician Village does for our residents.”

Felician Village announces Julie Larson, Dietary, won the Service Excellence Star Award for the month of July.

Julie’s nomination: “I am nominating Julie Larson for Service Excellence as she truly lives our values every day. Her service is always done with a smile. Lunch time has been proven to be extremely hectic and many times staff/residents
are lined up into the hallway. Julie never appears frustrated and serves everyone with the compassion and dignity they deserve. Great customer service skills! Thank you Julie for all your hard work.”

The April Service Excellence Star Award Winner is Announced

Cory’s nomination: “Cory has gone over and above her job duties by being supportive in planning of all the extra events and gatherings held at The Gardens. Cory not only supports, but works together with the team creating memorable experiences for our guests and current Gardens residents. Cory also believes in customer experience which shows in her work ethic. Cory is peaceful, serene, empathetic, loving, kind and compassionate in all her conversations with residents, resident’s families and staff.”

Felician Village Announces Award of Excellence for Volunteer Service

IMG_1466On Tuesday, April 12, Frank Soltys, President/CEO, Felician Village, named Harold Kimmel as the 2016 recipient of the Felician Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service at Felician Village. The award was presented at the 2016 Volunteer Appreciation ceremony held during Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 10-16.

Kimmel volunteers daily by transporting residents to and from Mass, bingo and other events on campus. He started volunteering in 2015 and volunteers about 25-60 hours each month.

Kimmel was nominated by three individuals. While presenting the award, Volunteer Coordinator Kim Loose read some of the remarks from the nomination forms. “Harold is always kind, gentle and respectful,” Loose read. “Harold is an honest man with great integrity. He protects the dignity and privacy of residents and makes them feel worthy.”

This award recognizes an individual whose volunteer actions have made a significant impact on the residents/operations of Felician Village. The recipient of this award exemplifies the core values of Felician Village by living out the healing ministry of Jesus and providing compassionate care that respects the dignity of each person served.

At the Volunteer Appreciation ceremony, volunteers were recognized for their years of service. The following list recognizes the volunteers for their respective years of service:

Service Star Excellence Award Winner

DSCN0623 Jan 16Felician Village announces the nursing staff at St. Clare Household, St. Mary’s Nursing Home, won the Service Excellence Star Award for the month of January.  The nursing staff was nominated by a resident’s family member. “The entire nursing staff are angels. They give our mom the best care anyone could ask for. They are not just employees; they are family. God bless each one of you and your families.”
