A cow wandering in traffic on Route 80 in New Jersey around 2:45 am Thursday morning was literally running for her life, reports Pix11. The bovine had escaped from a truck that was transporting it to a New Jersey slaughterhouse. The cow jumped from the second level of a truck eight-feet down onto the roadway tying up traffic in the process.
Police called the Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue for assistance wrangling the cow, which weighed more than 1,000 pounds.
Mike Stura, the founder of Skylands, lassoed the cow, who is getting a new lease on life. Skylands posted a video of the capture on their Facebook page.
Instead of becoming ground beef, the lucky cow has been given the name Brianna, and she will live out the rest of her days at the sanctuary in Wantage.
