Top Things to Do on the Lakeshore This Weekend

The Manitowoc Marine Band will be hosting a Chili Supper and Christmas Concert on Friday, December 7th. The Chili Supper will begin at 5pm and the concert will begin at 7pm. Chili will be available in meatless, bean less, and traditional. $5 per bowl and drinks are $1.50. The concert is FREE and open to the public. While your here for this event don’t forget to purchase your holiday raffle tickets. All baskets are already on display in the lobby. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The large wine basket and Wii basket tickets are $3 ea. Stop in from 8am to 4pm Monday thru Friday.

Join us for the 32nd Annual Love light Tree Celebration at 6pm on December 7, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial indoors at the Western Avenue location. HFM Love light Tree is a great way to honor and remember our veterans and our loved ones. The tradition of hosting the HFM love tree lighting celebration is on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. All proceeds from this event benefit veterans’ health, community health initiatives and the HFM Providence Fund. If you can’t make the event, you can listen live on WCUB AM 980 to the entire ceremony, beginning at 6 pm.

There will be a craft Fair at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA on Saturday, December 8th from 8:30 to 3:00pm in the Community Room. The address is 205 Maritime Drive, Manitowoc. The vendors include, knitted and crocheted items, woodworking, locally produced honey, fleece blankets, jams and kellies, vegetables, farm fresh eggs, homemade fudge, and other selected food items. Christmas with the Nelsons will be presented at the Capitol Civic Centre in Manitowoc on Saturday, December 8th at 7:30 pm. Not merely a rock concert with a few holiday songs thrown in, Christmas with the Nelsons delivers Christmas classics the Nelson family way. Interweaving quick humor, soaring sibling vocals, and state-of-the-art big screen video; Matthew and Gunnar’s completely new show will take you on a sleigh ride through time. From the “Holly Jolly” 50s when their father, Ricky, was a little boy intent on duct-taping antlers to the family cat… to the 70s’ when “Santa Claus Came to Town” delivering Schwinns for the twins in the era before bike helmets… to “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” today with the newest generation of Nelson family kids, who prove that yes, they did in fact turn out to be just like their parents after all! The entire Nelson family invites you to celebrate, Christmas with the Nelsons!

Enjoy a free day of family-friendly fun at the Museum as we remember one of our most famous shipwrecks, the Christmas Tree Ship from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, December 8th. After Santa and Mrs Claus arrive by tug boat, we will host cookie decorating, Christmas carols, submarine tours and photo ops. We are also thrilled to announce Tamara Thomsen of the Wisconsin Historical Society will be giving a lecture at 11am on the ROUSE SIMMONS, our Christmas Tree Ship.

Join the Clipper City Chordsman as they present The Spirit of Christmas held at Endries Performance Hall located at Silver Lake College Campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road, Manitowoc at 7 pm on Saturday, December 8th. Joining the Chordsmen will be the Clipper city Chordsmen Barbershop Quartet and the Roncalli Singers. Reserved seating only, Adults $20, Senior $17 and Student $8. Silver Lake College of the Holy Family presents “Sounds of Christmas” on Sunday, December 9th at 3:00pm and again at 7:00pm in the Bob & Pat Endries Performance Hall inside the Franciscan Center for Music and Performance on Campus, 2406 Alverno Road. Tickets are on sale for only $10 each.
