U.S. magistrate judge William Duffin ordered that Brendan Dassey be released from prison by eight tomorrow evening. Dassey was convicted along with his uncle Steven Avery of killing Teresea Halbach in 2005 . Duffin overturned Dassey’s conviction in August saying investigators tricked him into confessing. Duffin ordered Dassey released Monday. State Attorney General Brad Schimel asked Duffin Tuesday to stay his ruling but he overruled it.
Should Brendan Dassey go free by 8 p-m Friday…there are reports he will be living in a family-owned trailer with his mother about100 miles from the city of Manitowoc in the town of Stephenson just west of Crivitz. Dassey would spend one to three months at the rural location and then possibly move to a location in Brown county. Dassy’s attorney reportedly said; by moving to the town of Stephenson, it would minimize disruption for the Manitowoc community, the Halbach family. When released, Dassey will be under the supervision of the United States probation office. The state justice department planned to file an emergency motion to the 7th u.s. circuit court of appeals in Chicago seeking to block Dassey’s release.
